  • Ted Turner Will Not Be Coming To Dinner

Rocket and I often have breakfast at the Kettle  and  linger over coffee and read the morning news.

The local San Marcos paper quoted  an interview with Ted Turner , he was asked what he saw the future being in forty years  His reply was shocking.

He said " Most of the people will be dead , and those of us still alive will be cannibals"

Darn I was picturing those moving sidewalks...

    Anyway ...

I’ll bet most of you are saying right now " I would never be a cannibal  , no way , no matter what" And I’m sure right now you believe it. But how many days have you ever gone without eating?

How strong would your convictions be if your children and loved ones were slowly starving to death and the only way to save them was eat your neighbor?

Do you think you would be able to sustain life without resorting to canabilism?

Even so how does one keep from becoming cannibal food in a world gone so mad?

I’m pretty sure I would not be that good at protecting myself physically and I can’t run that fast any more so I began wondering if in such a situation would I be more valuable as "food" or do I have any  important knowledge and or skills that would make me more valuable alive . You know , something benificial to the survival of others.

Hmmm ... I’m too old  to be a breeder , Lets see . can’t cook  , don’t know how to sew  and  OMG  Does this dress make me look fat (and juicey) ?\

Needless to say , Rocket and I went home  that very day  , and started the vegetable garden we have been planning to start for years now.

Pretty scarey huh?  . . I don’t intend to dwell on terrible things that might happen but what’s the harm in becoming a little more self sufficient?

Its seems better to to be thinking of solutions and positive actions towards a better tommorow , than just waiting around 40 years  and wondering what’s for supper -

JUST A LITTLE FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOLKS

Do you agree with Ted’s prediction ?

What do you see life on Earth being in 40 years?

Yes, come to think of it if food is scarce it could happen. For some reason though I don't think it will happen in 40 years.  He is just being an ultra-negative doomsayer.

@lhotsedog - I just know even with the thought or possibility of such an outcome I as a parent and grandparent feel motivated  to  do what I can to avoid that future even if I will not be around to experience it.

I wonder how he can say that is how he sees the future , yet does not mention any action or possible  solution  . Just my thoughts anyway

Well I feel that if we were all to abandon hope we may walk into a scenario like the above but we humans are pretty hopeful and a little positive thinking goes a long way.  Eventually I think we will become much more advanced in our thinking and there will be a lot more love out there.  If I am right I don't think we will have to worry about it.

@lhotsedog  I love your vision alot better  - Im still going to grow vegetables  -lol  - but I agree it is better to focus on higher thoughts .

I have chickens and veggies.  I am sooo prepared!

i'd have to say that ted turner's statement did not worry me about the practical aspects of having to eat another human being. i would challenge the very assumption of your query, that you would ever be a situation in which you had no other choice but to murder and eat someone to survive. Even if I could such a situation, the probability of it actually coming to fruition it is so far removed from everyday reality that it would a waste of time to prepare a mental response.
To be honest, I was just a little concerned for Ted Turner and how he arrived at that conclusion. That's seriously a little strange don't you think? I am more in line with you...I see a technological paradise with moving sidewalks and the whole 9-yards.

Thank you for your visit today. I appreciate that.

I think the world's population is in for some very tough times. I seems like the planet is changing, food is growing short, and those of us in the USA are major cusmer's of so much priduced by the world. I don't think the good times as we have know them can last.

In history, and even plane crashes in moutains, have shown that human's are capable of canabalism. While it sounds disgusting, people have survived desert heat by drinking their own urine.

Also, people/parents will kill to survive.

I hope Ted is wrong. My 47 year old son with a I.Q. tells me all the time that it will all be over just as Ted has stated.

    Thanks again for your visist.

@HeavyThinker -Yes I do find it strange that Ted sees cannibalism in our near future and would like to know why myself.

I think as a society it is important for our spirituality to advance along with our technology to maybe keep our selfishness and greed from determining the outcome of the future,

@NVRSAD_DAY  Hi Frank- glad you stopped by.

Survival is the strongest driving force but I would like to think we will pull together for survival  in tough times
